Thornwick Works

A workshop and joinery working with companies that need the work finished, documented and handed over — not restarted every time a supplier changes.

Talk to us

What we do

Four things, done properly

Restoration

Repairing what is sound and replacing only what is not, with matched timber.

Fitting

Installation by the people who made the piece, so the adjustments happen on the spot.

Small batch

Short runs for shops and offices, priced per run rather than per hour.

Made to measure

Cabinets, stairs and doors cut for the opening that exists, not the one on the drawing.

How we work

Short cycles, written down

Step 1

Measure

On site, by hand, before any material is ordered.

Step 2

Make

In the workshop, with a photograph at each stage so nothing is a surprise on delivery.

Step 3

Fit and finish

Installed, adjusted and cleaned up, with the offcuts taken away.

About

Who you would be working with

Thornwick Works is a two-bench workshop that takes on the jobs a factory will not quote. We keep the team small on purpose: the people who scope the work are the people who do it.

Questions

Answers before you ask

What timber do you use?
Whatever the job needs, sourced from two merchants we have used for years. We will tell you what we would use in our own house.
How long does a kitchen take?
Six to ten weeks from measure to fit, depending on the finish.
Do you take small repairs?
Yes. A single door or a loose stair is worth doing well.
Can we visit the workshop?
Please do — it is the fastest way to see the standard of work.
